Privacy policy

We collect the information we need to do the work, we use it for that work, and we do not sell it. This page sets out exactly what we hold, why, and how to get a copy or ask for it to be removed.

01Who we are

Highpoint Consultants (ACN 701 706 649) is the organisation that handles personal information described in this policy. Our office is at 129 Harrington Street, The Rocks NSW, Australia.

You can reach us at dominic@highpointconsultants.com.au or on 0433 236 236. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

This policy covers our website and our work with clients and prospective clients. Where an engagement agreement says something different about a particular set of data, that agreement applies to that data.

02What we collect

We only ask for what the work needs. That usually means:

  • Your name, business name, role, email address and phone number.
  • Business details you tell us about: industry, rough annual revenue, team size, and what is holding growth back right now.
  • Correspondence: emails, call notes, meeting notes, and messages you send us.
  • Billing details needed to raise an invoice and get paid.
  • Website activity: pages viewed, approximate location at country or city level, device and browser type, and the site you arrived from.
  • If you apply to work with us: your resume, work history and references.

03How we collect it

  • Directly from you, through the enquiry form, email, phone, or a meeting.
  • Inside your own systems where we work alongside you, such as your CRM or quoting tool, with your permission.
  • From other people: referrals from a partner, a mutual contact, or an introduction at an event.
  • Automatically, when you visit this website.

04Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and work out whether we can help.
  • To deliver the engagement we agreed with you.
  • To send updates, reports and invoices you have asked for.
  • To keep records we are required to keep, including for tax.
  • To improve how we work and what we publish.
  • To recruit people to the team.

05Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent your list. Where we share, it is with people who help us run the work:

  • Service providers: email and CRM platforms, hosting, accounting software, and payment processing.
  • Our professional advisers, such as our accountant and lawyer.
  • A partner or supplier you have asked us to introduce you to, or where a referral arrangement applies.
  • Anyone else, when we are required or permitted by law to do so.

06Information handled outside Australia

Some of the platforms we use store data outside Australia, and part of our team works from overseas. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. Our overseas dealings are limited to the work we are doing with you.

07Cookies and website analytics

This site uses a small number of cookies and a privacy-conscious analytics tool so we can see which pages people read and which ones they leave. That data tells us what is useful and what is not. You can block cookies in your browser settings; the site still works, though some parts may look odd.

08How long we keep it

We keep enquiry records for as long as it takes to answer you and follow up sensibly. Engagement records, including contracts and invoices, are kept for the period Australian tax and company law requires. When we no longer have a reason to hold something, we delete or de-identify it.

09Access, correction and deletion

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email dominic@highpointconsultants.com.au and tell us what you are after.

We respond within 30 days and there is no charge for making the request. Occasionally we cannot give access to something, for example where it belongs to someone else or is covered by legal privilege. If we refuse, we tell you why in writing.

10How we protect it

Information sits behind account logins with limited access, and only the partner working on your engagement sees it. Where we breach the law in a way that is likely to cause you serious harm, we report it under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme and tell you what we know.

11Marketing and unsubscribing

We only send marketing to people who have asked for it. Every message has a way to opt out, and one reply asking to be taken off the list is enough. We action it straight away.

12Complaints

Raise a privacy concern with us first and we will look into it and come back to you in writing. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

13Changes to this policy

We update this page when how we handle information changes, and the date at the top shows the last update. Nothing here is legal advice; if you need a legal opinion on your own situation, get one.
